Mental health is sometimes confused with mental illness, but they are both very different things. Your mental health is “a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community” (according to the World Health Organisation). Your Mental Health is the key to a happy, healthy body. If you have high levels of mental health, they also increase your other sections of health, such as your creativity, productivity, and positive social relationships. In contrast poor mental health/conditions can mess with your mind and make your body feel unhappy and stop you from doing the things you love. They cause you to think negative thoughts and feel sick all the time. But remember mental health is complex, just because someone doesn’t have a mental health condition, it doesn’t mean their mental health is A-OK. While feeling well in most aspects of life you could still be diagnosed with a mental condition. Mental health is about being physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and socially healthy. So, take care of your mind, keep it healthy and HAPPY!
